My current Thaumaturge is a Human Beastkin (werewolf) who uses his Dire Form and a Gnome Flickmace (reskinned as an axe on a chain) Weapon Implement, a Chalice and the Mirror. Built fully as a support martial. He's level 18 with the Weapon as his Paragon, Adept Mirror and he grabbed the extra Adept for his Mirror.

However, the implements are either active, reactive or passive and with PF2 you probably want 1 of each type, which drops down to 27 combinations ...Invest in athletics and acrobatics.
