Goodbye Fidium. After a little over a year of using Fidium 1Gbps fiber internet, I am switching back to cable. Unfortunately, Fidium has not been reliable enough for my needs. Both my wife and I work from home, and we need reliable internet access for our jobs. During the past year, we have had four outages, two of which lasted for four days.

Bad Service, change they made, and horrendous customer service. So… we had fidium installed a few weeks ago in Southern NH and have had nothing, but problems since. It was wonderful until they changed settings on their side and didn't inform us. Now I'm barely getting more than 180 up and down and being routed to nodes in other states.This went on from the fall until two weeks ago. Strangely sometimes the Fidium router only dropped wirelessly connected devices and ethernet connected devices stayed online. After repeated service calls from Fidium where all equipment was replaced (ONT, router, pods, ethernet cables, Fidium even dropped a new line from the pole, etc.),Fidium is the new branding for Consolidated Communications fiber to the home plans. It’s generally solid, with good peering agreements and reliable speed. It does use PPPoE for authentication so if you want to use your own equipment, it needs to be supported (most modern routers do). Just went down to my basement and realized the ONT never came back online. So here is the interesting thing with forums routers. They don't seem to keep configuration info local. The ONT box is a device that needs to be plugged in all the time to a power outlet dedicated to it .
Just to be clear. The fiber optic line runs into my garage and connects to the small, black ONT (Optical Network Terminal) placed there by Fidium/CC. From the ONT, a CAT 5e line runs through my house coming out through the floor in corner of my living room and plugs directly into the Deco unit allowing it to offer Wi-Fi in the house.
