Air force air traffic control

My plan is to get out after 4 if I can and do air traffic with the FAA. It would be nice to go and do it at ORD in Chicago, but I heard that choosing your facility with the FAA is also a lottery ticket plus I don't know if a level 12 facility like Chicago would take someone fresh out the air force along with the fact that it's a highly sought-after facility.
