Don't want to get your hopes up, but with my son I had my first cervical check at 35 weeks, 4 days, and was 3 cm dialated and 80% effaced, and went into labor 2 hours later! (At the hospital filling out our pre-registry paperwork!) But, judging by all the previous responses, my situations seems like the minority. Good luck!
