80 posts · Joined 2019. #11 · Aug 29, 2023 (Edited) I changed the CVT fluid on my wife's 2018 Crosstrek at about 35,000 miles. It was dirty and glad I did it. The so call engineers left out the dipstick to complicate the job so you would be more likely taking it in.

Grab the filter twist it off, clean base area and thread on new filter. Close valve, wipe area. Fill oil. 20 minutes and 15 of that is letting it drain fully.Installed a Fumoto valve at 1st oil change back in 2014 and never saw this problem. I bought a couple from local car supply shops. I did the normal change, made sure I hadn't left the old gasket on and everything went fine.There is a new Oil drain plug for the 2.5L, idk about the 2.0L - 32195AA021 (17mm hex) (Old plug was 14mm hex and tended to round off) I used a 6-point 17mm socket now. I also only use a new crush washer every now and then, but mostly not, no need for a new one every time with the Loctite.
